i feel a fire that i cannot see something warm just out of reach i feel a world that isn't there with one half of a lonely pair there's a world i'm allowed to feel you don't know that's my end of the deal paid in full i feel the texture of what's to come and then it's taken away the void is far from numb it knows my name cast into molds we did not choose let's reminisce of the coming of these final days skyscrapers bend to listen when we whisper of the coming of these final days.

How Come 05:00
she's long gone caught the first thing smoking it was a diesel pickup two state lines from broken radio's calling for electrical fires maybe all the booze has crossed a few wires anything that i might try will be noticed when the soldiers pass by stoplights wink in code and the people have their hands full falling down the road soil's dry the crops are inside out sky above is living in doubt do a dance just to make it rain then the deluge came washed my brain down a storm drain six tons of silence knocking at my door and i can hear fucking on the bottom floor too tired to put up a fight they think i'm crazy and i think they're right there's something planned i won't stick around i got that feeling you get before it all comes down i can't remember what i look like or where i've been or why i care i can't remember who i am.

Yegg 04:43
he's got nowhere left to go in a busted train car waiting for sunset hungry nights out in the rain pegged the place and lay low 'til midnight silent footsteps on the stair broke the box and stashed the money fingers sleek and eyes like coals craft of a lifetime's work in the darkness threshing soup with the jungle yeggs outside the city hatching schemes to beat the bank and make off pretty you think you'll see him again you'll never see him again drank the whole damn night away stacks of green and friends aplenty rode that binge 'til the break of day felt his empty pockets and hopped a freight line one year weighs five on his face they've got his name, they know his number rage and scorn of everything set him free he'll do it all again.

Glory 05:50
there's dust on the floorboards and the clock on the wall is telling lies i hear breathing just behind my head some beast is looking through my eyes the people are around me they gather here when the day's work is done they're laughing and drinking and telling me their secrets one by one i'd sell them all for money or a bottle or just a summer rain to wash this clean the moon is full and the fauns are coming out to play they tell me it won't really get started until the break of day and the crapshooters crouch in the alley to huddle round their fates and the night is thick with these creatures and the calendar is missing dates i'd sell them all for money or for glory or for a nameless face to call my own i'd sell them all for a dirt road so twisted that the spiders in my mailbox see no harm there's a stranger in the mirror his gaze is warped by benzedrine and rye a jester on a searing white stage his jokes are running dry i've known this hole before this ain't my first fall there's nothing left to see down here the museums are the same from wall to wall i'd sell them all for a hatchet and a prairie and a chance to build the world that should have been i'd sell them all just to wake up unbroken and see the awful dark with trusting eyes for money or for glory for money or for glory for money or for glory for money or for glory.

Widowmaker 06:21
there's a hundred maybe a thousand they've been asking after you all over town they dug up the man you laid to rest on the mountain put something in his pocket and put him back face down all you buried has been found they placed the warden stones in perfect little rows they lit candles in a circle on the ground they're telling stories in a language no one knows don't come home they found what you left behind in the junkyard sweat and grease and solid fuel and they got it running again the house you built is ashes the ashes were shipped away to agencies and laboratories and the great minds of the day they painted your name on the fuselage of a gunship they painted your name in red they painted your name on the fuselage of a gunship they painted your name in red don't come home.

this room ain't got a phone you lay there all alone thinking why oh why while you were fast asleep the dreams they cut you deep this is all you know this is all you know she put needles in your hair she lay rose thorns everywhere she said stay boy stay there's microphones in the wall they'll catch you when you fall you are live you fell down on your knees and you're praying skyward please send me a sign send me a sign can you taste my tears with your silver split tongue can you feel my heart beating 'tween your hands will you waste away when i go west i'll be here to stay 'til tomorrow come crawling five hundred thousand pounds shipped west from coastal towns coming to your door there's microphones in the wall they'll catch you when you fall you are live you fell down on your knees and you're praying skyward please send me a sign please send me a sign this room ain't got a phone you lay there all alone thinking why oh why why oh why.

places keep their memories as they sleep they hum melodies they come to us as ghosts and dangers you should belong here but you are a stranger we are dirt and voltage by the time i'd realized you had without speaking taught me the true nature of things i was halfway across the country hitching a ride out of taos with a saxohpone on my back thinking where the hell am i and what the hell did i come down off the mountain for knowing anyhow i had brought the mountain down with me and would in time return to craft up there in the fog from the shambles of earthly struggle and heartbreak a reason not to sleep through judgement day mississippi rolls by all refuse in technicolor as we slug shine that steams off the tongue and leaves a reptilian sheen on our bloodshot eyes and if it's in the north winter of the fairweathers where we finally see each other again we'll tie ourselves together against the dark and trek down into the valley to bask in the glow of a third human face and if it's oklahoma in the spring i'll hold the door against the tornado and wait for you with candles and wine ready in the basement we'll finally have a chance to learn from one another and if that day never does come a thousand starving playwrights will take to stage and shout so it shall be over the heads of an audience in standing ovation and a kick from the mule who shook the yoke will set the sun reeling eastward and i'll remember how you told me once to close my eyes and just listen bury it deep if you want it found true gold lives underground as we age we hone our craft old hands weaving yarns in the mineshaft we are dirt and voltage bury me deep i might come back bury me deep i might come back bury me deep i might come back bury me deep i will come back.
